I DO

Imagine going into a retail store and as soon as the glass doors shut behind you, you are greeted with a very high-pitched (and an extremely fake smile) "Welcome to David's - what brings you in today?"

Weddings at Davids are like theatrical productions - the bride is the leading lady, the brides maids are the ingenues, the Mother of the Bride is the old Dame actress and the groom is the leading, supposedly suave, man. The wedding consultants are the costumers and stage crew, doing their utmost to make sure that the show runs smoothly.

At times at Davids, I felt like a waitress - serving MANY people at one time and trying to satisfy as many egos as possible. I was a counselor, making sure that everyone who came into Davids felt good about how they looked. I was an improvist, having to think on my feet most of the time. And behind all of it, backing me up was the comission that I made if I sold a certain amount of dresses.

Yes, everyday we were invaded by fashion crazed brides, their mothers, friends, teeny-bopper prom girls with bad dye jobs...but once in a whole, I'd encounter a customer that gave me hope that there was some humanity among the racks of dresses there.

Oh well, it's done.."

Beautiful colors, all lined up like that! Retail isn't your thing, but the hospitality connected to it is. Another line on the resume!
