Summer's Gems

"These were a treat when I was a kid," I told Katie one afternoon as we chomped on the fresh cherries her mom got from the roadside stand.

"We have these ALL the time," was her reply.

"Then you're lucky," I said.

"I know."

A definitive Iowan moment: Eating corn on the cob for breakfast while sitting in a lawn chair across from the field where said breakfast was just picked. It brings back so many happy ragbrai memories of biking over rolling hills with nothing between you and the endless sky.
