I've seen examples of this in a lot of college towns - free spirits tend to be abundant there. I see it in Fayetteville too - mostly on Saturday during the farmer's market. Sometimes on Friday nights, there will be a guitarist rocking his heart out on the Walton arts center steps.
It would be fun for all towns to have their own troubadour (any Gilmore girls fans out there will know what I'm talking about). Enigmatic and musical, singing and playing in the town square. Just spending the day making music.
I will never be able to play the guitar (I am a mediocre player of the tuba, piano, harp and recorder.....eh, I mean I've LEARNED how to play them in my lifetime) but it's nice to be in a community of artists. I somtimes feel like I can step out my front door and hear a song..
