So...wow.

That's all I can think of to say, after completing the HOGEYE MARATHON this morning. The temp was 48 degrees but with the wind probably was in the 30's. Wind and hills do not bode well together.

The first 12 miles were easy - I think it's an accomplishment in itself that I can THAT. Then hit the part of the run where you hadn't hit 20 yet...and wouldn't for a few miles. But the hardest part, was the last 5 miles.

"Why are you doing this to yourself????" My mind kept wailing. "You're a good kid - explain to me why you are putting yourself through this!!!!!" Eventually, I had to shut my mind off. I just drank more Gatorade and slurped down more power gels at the aide stops.

Mother nature took a nice little stab at me, as I rounded the very last bend by throwing a big GUSH of wind in my already frozen face....as if to say "you haven't won this yet." But I saw my fiancee (who came with me at 6:45am on his day off to see me off at the starting line) and two of my best girl friends waiting for me.

And then I realized that it was totally worth it.

time: 4:20...1st in age group...15th woman in out of the total 41 women.

Time to start planning the next one!
