Al was out of town last night so I had the apartment to myself.

A thunderstorm started shortly after I left work. I love thunderstorms. As a kid, I'd burrow deep into my covers at night, making my own fort - my own world.

As an adult, I appreciate their color and the majesty of the grey, inauspicious clouds that can angrily gather so quickly in the sky. So big - so powerful. Frightening, yet captivating.

Thunderstorms always make me want to turn on jazz and read a classic noire. After all, lightening was always better for Philip Marlowe ;)
