"Tails" of a runaway kite

Once upon a time a boy and two girls went to the beach on a windy day. They loved the salty air and the soft sand - but the thing they were most excited about was the kite that they were bringing with them.
Getting the kite up into the air was easy - and the three of them took turns holding onto it, and ran through the sand laughing as the kite fluttered in the wind currents that rolled off the the ocean.
Soon, they all stopped their play for lunch, hooking the kite to the large beach bag that one of the girls had brought with them. There was enough wind to keep the kite in flight while they were sitting down.
Suddenly a huge gust of came out of nowhere, unhooked their beloved toy and took it out to see. One of the girls ran after it, but the water was too cold to wade into. So the threesome watched, as the seagulls took the kite out to play.
