7:30am at a radio station

On Friday I took advantage of the many resources that this college town of 60,000 provides me; I took the bus to work. Getting a run in early, and trotting down to the bus stop 4 blocks from my apartment was easy work. There were two or three people already waiting there by 7am. College guys, with long hair and dirty back packs, listening to their surprisingly trendy I-PODS. Not to be left out, I pulled mine out, put the headphones on and we all waited together.

The bus pulled up right on time - and I hopped on. Fields, buildings and other cars blurred by. We reached the destination nearly 20 minutes later - just in time for me to be about an hour early for work.

"No matter," I thought. I had a book, a bottle of water - I was all set. But then, the inevitable happened. I saw a gorgeous, dew encrusted spider web. Immediately, the book was put aside, and I grabbed my camera.

See...I have this problem - er...artistic condition. Once I see an interesting subject, more and more come into view! I started seeing drops of crystal dew on leaves, shadows dancing in the trees...faster than you could say "good morning", my shutter was opening and closing to capture them all.

Around 8am (still 30 minutes before I had to be at work) I finally came in the office and started entering in data. One of the money traffic controls came up to me, grinning.

"Morning - what's so funny?"

"Um Kate - don't come in here early and start taking pictures all over the place - it freaks out the AM radio guys." Apparently, the guy who works from 4am-8am shift at the AM station (even as an early morning riser, I can't even BEGIN to contemplate those hours) saw me and as he is usually gone before I get to work, was wondering who the heck I was.

Maybe sometime he and I will meet - until then, I guess I should be glad people at my work are so vigilant.
