Every time I see flocks of birds, I think of my time in Chicago.

They followed you in droves there, relentless in their pursuit of bread crumbs. I remember that one of my roommates was DEATHLY afraid of them, comparing them to large rats with wings.

To me, they represent Urban freedom. The oppressed being released. Weird, I know. Especially since Fayetteville is far from Urban...in comparison to Chicago or New York. Yet the flocks of birds that hover here never threaten. They bring a relaxed feeling - a calmness. They help me remember where I am, where I've been and where I'm headed.
