Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am a city gal through and through. Bugs, wet grass and mud hold no delight for me when I'm in my "fast paced-get to work-get things done-write another note in my planner" mode. But being in Fayetteville reminds me to take time to step back, smell that wet grass and sink my toes in the mud.
Last Saturday, Al, our friend Sarah and I drove to Devil's Den National Park. I've had several entries about that place, but it's beauty is really stunning. Once you get past the curvy roads, the look out points are breath taking. But the thing that I'm trying to convey with all this talk of mud, rocks and grass - is that its 30 minutes away. We don't have to drive across the country. It's practically in our own backyard.
To me, that's worthwhile. Who knows? I might turn into a wilderness girl yet. As long as I can still have my starbucks ;)
